Industry Skills Program

DECD has an Industry Skills Program (ISP) which is a package of vocational learning for secondary school students offered in partnership with Registered Training Organisation and other enterprises which provides credit towards their SACE.

Industry Skills Programs allow SACE to become more relevant and can assist young people to move quickly and successfully into more highly skilled occupations and further training.

An Industry Skills Program:

  • provides credit towards some or all of the following compulsory SACE requirements,

Stage 1: Literacy (English Subjects), Numeracy (Mathematics subjects) Personal Learning Plan
Stage 2: Research Project

  • provides credit towards a recognised VET qualification, in some cases allowing students the opportunity to complete the whole qualification. ISP's can also lead to shorter time spent in an apprenticeship.
  • can provide pathways into apprenticeships, traineeships, further education or training and direct employment.
  • focuses on existing and emerging industry areas where there are skills shortages.
  • provides practical vocational experiences (including time spent in workplaces), builds skills and understanding of the industry, of career development and of vocational literacy and numeracy.

Currently students in North East Adelaide can participate in an Industry Skills Program in the skills shortage areas of:

  • Automotive
  • Health Services
  • Civil Construction
  • Construction
  • Construction Plumbing
  • Creative Industries
  • Electronics
  • Electrotechnology
  • Engineering

Schools in the region also host a wide range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses which are not listed on  the NEVO website. Students can acquire increased career pathway options by visiting school websites for further VET Courses.
